Thanks to a Volunteer Association/Health Sciences Foundation Family CARE Grant, the Health Sciences Centre’s patient consent form is being translated to Oji-Cree, Cree and Ojibway. Aboriginal patients who do not speak or understand English will now have a form in their language to clearly understand what treatment or tests they are being asked to consent to.
Your safety is part of our plan of care. It is characterized by openness in incident reporting to help reduce error. We will take every reasonable precaution to ensure the safety of patients, staff, visitors, physicians, learners and volunteers.
As a partner with us, you have a right to be informed about your condition and treatment plan, and participate in decisions about your care. We will explain what medications or treatments we are giving, along with the reasons, risks, benefits, and possible side effects.
