Thanks to a Volunteer Association/Health Sciences Foundation Family CARE Grant, the Health Sciences Centre’s patient consent form is being translated to Oji-Cree, Cree and Ojibway. Aboriginal patients who do not speak or understand English will now have a form in their language to clearly understand what treatment or tests they are being asked to consent to.
We understand that smoking is an addiction to nicotine and we want to support patients during their stay at at our Hospital. For patients who are admitted to hospital, there are services to help them with quitting smoking or remaining smoke-free while at TBRHSC.
Quitting smoking can help to ensure that our patients receive the best care possible. Quitting smoking can have positive impacts on treatment effectiveness, healing, and even prevent re-admissions.
Patients who are admitted are asked by their nurse if they would like nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) while here.
Speak to your community pharmacist about your smoking cessation options.
